Senior Technician (CH-07-16)

The selected candidate will fill a Electronics Technician III position, to include:
- General support of Command/Control/Tactical Communications systems.
- Supervision, training, mentoring and performance evaluation for subordinate technicians and technical personnel.
- Plan and direct major Telecommunications projects; including installation and maintenance of DOD UHF/VHF/HF RF systems.
- Provide recommendations for management, operation and maintenance of complex communications systems to transport voice, data and image, including assessments for efficient bandwidth usage and growth.
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend modifications to existing equipment or new systems as appropriate in response to requests from system users.
- Assist with the development of plans for, design, development and implementation, for set-up and operation of communication infrastructure from "scratch" at geographically remote sites.
- Manage telecommunications assets with respect to deployment, usage and redeployment.
- Provide real-time component accountability via the DOD WPAS system.
- Develop and recommend strategies to address specific telecommunications, connectivity and related training needs.
- Provide emergency communications capabilities in support of staff security.
Degree in electrical/electronic/telecommunications engineering or other related field. An associates degree/trade or military school combined with relevant (with five or more years) experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of the university degree.
Specific experience should include: Operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting (to component level) and repair of UHF/VHF/HF radio systems. In-depth knowledge of, and extensive experience in, communications systems to include digital network, telephone and RF systems; ability to develop, manage, implement and maintain complex RF communications systems.
Position requires daily interface with Government and contractor personnel.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts and recommendations to non-technical staff at senior levels, both orally and in writing, in a clear, concise style. Extensive, long term travel to various worldwide locations is required in the performance of the duties associated with this position.
