Duties of Position

Subject Matter Expert for: Commercial Broadband Satellite Program (CBSP) and/or AN/WSC-9(V) Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT) and/or Legacy and Follow On Terminal (FOT) AN/USC-38 Extremely High Frequency (EHF) (all variants) and/or Global Broadcast System (GBS) and/or C-12509 Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) Interface Processor (TIP) (all variants) and/or Advanced TIP (ATIP) and/or AN/WSC-6(V) Super High Frequency (SHF) Communication System (all variants); and all supporting patching, cryptographic, and baseband equipment. Working knowledge of satellite communication (SATCOM) systems operations, maintenance, and repair in shipboard, submarine, and shore-based environments. Analyze, troubleshoot and repair SATCOM systems as an individual and in team situations. Assess and respond to situations where standard procedures have failed in isolating or fixing problem equipment. Responsive to telephone and email requests for technical support. Provide OJT instruction on SATCOM operations, maintenance, and repair. Develop, plan, coordinate, and conduct System Operational Verification Testing (SOVT), Pre-Installation Test and Checkout (PITCO), and Pre-Installation Checkout (PICO) for SATCOM systems. Report design, reliability, and maintenance problems to program management. Support new system installations, integrations, and upgrades.

Required Skills & Experience

A technical school, trade school or military training in industrial engineering, electronics technology, information systems, computer science or other related technical field and five years Navy SATCOM troubleshooting and/or customer service experience providing technical support to engineers in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement.

This position requires a Secret US DoD security clearance.

Additional Notes

Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program.


Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of technical and management personnel.
