Duties of Position

Routine responsibilities include developing clear and concise documents and accurately proofreading and editing materials. Minimize re-work and delays in all projects. Demonstrates superior grammatical skills and ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring on-time delivery. The Technical Writer’s core competencies include: • Writes clearly and concisely to convey information appropriately for a variety of audiences. • Proofreads and refines technical deliverables. • Composes technical reports and user reference manuals and evaluates text, layout, charts, and graphics, ensuring clarity and consistency throughout documents. • Reviews, edits, formats, finalizes, and publishes system administration manuals, reference manuals, installation guides, training manuals, test procedures and standard operating procedures. • Evaluates and maintains SATCOM documents to ensure compliance with technical requirements, including system capabilities, deficiencies, and performance.

Required Skills & Experience

Three plus (3+) years of recent Navy C4I researching and compiling Radio Frequency Communication Systems data from documentation reviews, drawings, schematics, and reports, interviews with technical staff members, and the study of published material for use in various logistics documents, technical manuals, test plans and reports, training materials, installation guides, and other technical documentation.

This position requires a Secret US DoD security clearance.

Preferred Skills

Prior experience using NDE, SAILOR, SPIDER, TDMIS, JETDAS for nomenclature requests, TMDER, TFBR, XML, and SGML. Prior experience coordinating publication of technical documentation with organizations like the Naval Systems Data Support Activity (NSDSA). Capable of performing all duties with minimum supervision. Provide the status of assigned tasks via both prepared and ad hoc oral briefings to project manager. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of technical and management personnel.
