Duties of Position

Support CNSP in tracking and coordinating Calibration Readiness requirements to ensure units assigned are meeting Calibration readiness requirements. Support CNSP Calibration Readiness planning meetings in order to properly oversee advance calibration support planning for INSURV, Light-Off Assessments (LOAs), and Fleet Deployments. Provide report to CNSP of calibration readiness difficulties/problems encountered to insure CNSP is aware/informed of difficulties experienced by afloat units. Under TYCOM priority guidance, communicate fleet TMDE requirements with senior ship's company, SWRMC personnel, NAVSEA METCAL Program, and Port Engineers. Perform METBENCH Calibration Management System (MCMS) data review, data entry, data collection, data verification and validation, data assessment, data extraction, data reduction, data conversion, data archiving, file/database updates, output of data products and associated functions to ensure data accuracy and file/database integrity for surface units in-port/assigned to Japan area. Manage TMDE calibration readiness status and to assist ship's force with TMDE logistics, configuration, & technical requirements. Resolve and assist ship’s force in correcting deficiencies identified in order to increase calibration readiness. Assist with resolution to issues dealing with calibration of installed instrumentation, CRL and calibration recall. Provide guidance, training, and assistance to units in San Diego in the use of the MCMS program to aid them in meeting their fleet calibrations requirements. Visit on-board US Navy Ships located at SWRMC to assist them in meeting their calibration readiness goals as required/needed. Assist units in San Diego to identify issues and provide list of actions to improve calibrations readiness. Provide Calibration Requirement List (CRL) Readiness Support to assist ships in San Diego in meeting those calibrations requirements. Provide TMDE and Prime Systems Configuration Support. Provide TYCOM Calibration Recall Readiness Support.

Required Skills & Experience

Hands-on experience with the operation, repair and maintenance of US Navy Surface Ship Combat and HM&E systems and equipment required. Experience in the TMDE and Shipboard Gage Calibration Program & Process required. Experience in the TMDE and Shipboard Gage Calibration information systems (e.g. CRL, METCAL, MCMS) and process control (ICPs, Calibration Decals) documentation required. Hands-on experience in the utilization, maintenance, and understanding of the Ship/Shor Portable Electrical/Electronic Test Equipment Requirements list (SPETERL).

This position requires a Secret US DoD security clearance.

Preferred Skills

Quality Management System (QMS) experience that is compatible with ISO 9001:2008. Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Understanding of US Navy Calibrations and work controls policies, requirements, and governing documentation.

Additional Notes

Completion of an appropriate military “A" school and completion of at least one appropriate military “B" or "C" school may be substituted for the two year requirement. Calibration Technician certification required.
