Provide network engineering, and integration planning support to Joint Forces Command, J7 EOD. Install new and upgraded C4I and network systems, including: independent LANs supporting various military exercises, experiments and demonstrations. Manage monitors, configures, and troubleshoots the numerous firewalls, routers and, switches used to provide connectivity for these networks. Provide design, integration, configuration, maintenance, testing and management of network infrastructure and equipment. Perform configuration changes within the various networks in order to create and delete VLANs, add and delete ports/users from the networks, modify access lists, trunking and set-up interfaces and other features within the numerous firewalls, routers and switches. Provide network analysis and operational monitoring as required for the independent LANs supporting various military exercises, experiments and demonstrations executed at J7. Support new technology upgrades and integration into existing infrastructures; plans insertions which will not conflict with J7’s mission and identifying risks, benefits and limitations of new technologies. Provide support as the subject matter expert regarding network design, integration and operation under the direction of a project lead on both new and existing projects at Joint Forces Command, Joint Concept Development and Experimentation J7. Attends conferences and meetings in support of these events serving as representative network engineer for events hosted by USJFCOM J7.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. Experience: The following qualifications may be concurrently obtained and must have been obtained within the past five (5) years. Three years experience with military and/or civilian automated communication and telecommunications systems, and their integration with electronic commercial and military distribution systems including the military tactical communications systems (e.g., Internet 2, DISA's Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN), DISA's Leading Edge Services (LES) capabilities, or equivalent systems). Three years experience in the operation and configuration of classified and unclassified computer Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LAN); Video Teleconferencing equipment; and current military cryptographic equipment. Three years experience working on Cisco/Juniper networks, (i.e., Ethernet, Fast-Ethernet, Gigabit and IP protocols), Three years experience integrating and configuring switches, hubs, bridges, routers, gateways, ATM switches, and multiplexers, in data communications systems.
