This contract was awarded by the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC Pacific) to provide support with design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, integration, supporting logistics, and testing support for the AN/USQ-82(V) Data Multiplex Systems (DMS). The systems and subsystems involved consist of hardware and software systems that are primarily responsible for establishing, maintaining, monitoring and controlling shipboard data and support systems.
The AN/USQ-82(V) is a mission critical, data distribution network installed on all DDG 51 Class Destroyers, LHA Class Amphibious Assault Ships, and various shore developmental training sites. The AN/USQ-82(V) consists of three different versions: the DMS, the Fiber Optic Data Multiplex System (FODMS), and the current Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS). DMS is the first-generation AN/USQ-82(V) system utilizing a copper Triaxial Radio Frequency (RF) based network. FODMS is the second-generation AN/USQ-82(V) system utilizing a Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) multi-mode fiber network. GEDMS is the third and current generation AN/USQ-82(V) system. It uses a Gigabit Ethernet single-mode fiber network. GEDMS includes the legacy Third Generation (3G), the current Fourth Generation (4G), and the under-development Fifth Generation (5G) Maintenance Group (MG) versions. GEDMS will also include the future 5G MG variant Network Management Station (NMS). Collectively, these variants are referred to as the xDMS.
